You may have already heard about it: Lienz describes itself as the city of the sun and claims that the south begins here. You can say and write a lot, but believe it or not, there are an average of 2,020 hours of sunshine a year and the city has a real Mediterranean flair. Stroll through the city a little in summer, and you quickly notice: You couldn't describe beautiful Lienz more appropriately. And since people do not live from the sun, the south and hours of sunshine alone, Lienz also has a lot to offer.
The old town between the rivers Isel and Drau with its numerous cafés, bars, restaurants, boutiques and specialty shops invite you to stroll. The proximity to Italy can be clearly felt - the Mediterranean flair gives the city a very special atmosphere: “Dolce Vita” is lived here!
From the sunny city it goes up high - the Lienz Mountain Lifts take you directly from the city to 2278 m. With a wonderful view of the Dolomites, you can go hiking and mountain biking in Summer and skiing, snowboarding or enjoy winter hiking in Winter.
