Hiking in the Lienz Dolomites
Enjoy hiking, mountaineering and climbing
Lush green meadows, gentle hills and imposing rock formations – the Dolomites in the south, the Hohe Tauern in the north and the Hochstein in the west of Lienz together form a true hiking and climbing paradise. Enjoy the beauty and the originality of the region – whether leisurely walks in the valley or on extended summit tours.
You will be supported in the ascent by the Lienz cable cars. The panoramic cable car takes you to the Zettersfeld, where you can take a leisurely mountain hike or start a summit trip to the Schleinitz (2,905 m). The Hochstein area, which can be reached by chairlift in summer, is an ideal family hiking area. Petting zoo and adventure playground keep your little ones happy.
Climbers and mountaineers will find in the Lienz Dolomites a variety of tours of all levels of difficulty, various climbing routes and some climbing gardens. In the holiday region, more than 30 three-thousand-meter peaks beckon to be climbed.
Everywhere in the Lienz Dolomites you will find cozy alpine huts where a stop-off is worthwhile and where you will be served typical East Tyrolean specialties.
