Ski Areas in the Lienz Dolomites
Zettersfeld Ski Area
Only 5 minutes by car from the Grand Hotel is the panoramic cable-car valley station which will take you to the "Lienz Sun Roof". High above the town at 1670 m to 2278 m above sea level you will find a clear and wide ski area where the sun nearly always shines. With a total of 30 km of slopes, mostly easy (blue) or intermediate (red), this is the ideal place for family skiing. However, experienced skiers and snowboarders can also find a challenge at the snow park, on the mogul slope or on wonderful deep snow downhills.
Hochstein Ski Area
Downhill skiing directly into the town. The Hochstein ski area is equipped with two double chairlifts as well as two T-bar lifts and begins at the edge of Lienz, only five minutes from the Grand Hotel. At 670 m to 2000 m the slopes are below the tree line and it is possible to enjoy skiing even in bad weather and with good visibility conditions.
With challenging downhills the Hochstein offers experienced winter sport lovers the ideal supplement to Zettersfeld ski area. Every two years a Woman's World Cup Championship takes place here.
